July 2023 - Shipping of roundwood has steadily increased over the last 18 months, not least with the storm Arwen clear up in NE Scotland. Many ports previously unused for timber for many years are now being utilised for multi modal shipping of timber and it was pertinent for FISA to engage with this sector to create a base guidance document that can be referenced by ports and hauliers / suppliers.

Roadside Safety Week takes place between 19th November – 25th November 2025. It is an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about road safety issues, including the prevention of accidents, injuries, and fatalities on the road.

The government has launched its first road safety strategy in more than a decade with the overarching aim of reducing deaths and serious injuries on Great Britain’s roads by 65% by 2035, using a 2022-2024 baseline.

More associated with HGV drivers who are driving long distances, the condition can also affect others who drive for long stints during the day too, such as harvester and forwarder drivers.

Work has been progressing on the haulage safety media - primarily showing all key Forest haulage safety points for both drivers and FWMs!

The FISA Forest Haulage Working Group identified the need for an induction video (new HGV drivers into the forest) available since September 2021 and there is now a series of training videos to complement the CPC +F training course.

The new updated FISA Forest Haulage Safety Manual 2018 is now available, with thanks to Volvo for sponsoring and supporting the update of this publication.

Having been delayed by CV19, Benslie Training have now provided dates for the first round of CPC eligible training in +F format for HGV holders.
