An alarming warning - FISA do not make unannounced site audit visits

A harvesting site in the Scottish Borders has received a fake FISA site audit – most likely as a cover story to case the site. Details have been shared with the police rural crime team and rural crime groups. Please warn others and ask them to let the rural crime police know if people appear on site unannounced claiming to be carrying out an audit.

FISA will not call on your site unannounced. We would only visit your site, by prior arrangement with yourselves/those managing the site, to look at a safety topic or to discuss a query. The most likely FISA personnel to make any visit would be Gillian Clark, Neil McKay or one of the WG Chairs.

The police have shared this advice as well: Please consider making sites as secure as possible. Keep diesel/tools/equipment out of sight; try to schedule diesel deliveries to avoid leaving diesel on site over the weekends; lock/limit equipment and belongings left on sites over the weekend. Diesel remains a target for thieves.

If you do receive a random FISA site audit it is fake. We recommend you call the Community Police on 101 as soon as possible and they will try to get someone out to site. Please also let us know on technical@ukfisa.com.

FISA has shared a Safety Bulletin recently Rural Crime – Report, Report, Report – this has a range of other contact numbers and actions to follow.
