TikTok Karaoke and mobile phone use

FISA Safety Bulletin

FISA recently received a phone call from an employer seeking advice on managing mobile phone use; mobile phone policy and disciplinary proceedings following serious disregard by an employee on mobile phone use.  This occurred due to the employee alarmingly using their mobile phone whilst driving to film their singing attempt at TikTok Karaoke.

Quoting a ROSPA paper, ‘Drivers who use a hand-held or a hands-free mobile phone are four times more likely to crash, injuring or killing themselves and/or other people

Advice on how employers can ensure their staff do not use a mobile phone when driving for work and an example ‘Mobile Phones and Driving Policy’ can be found here.
