Road Haulage of Round Timber - Code of Practice - 5th edition

June 2021 Update - Strapping Stickers

Since the publication of the Timber Transport Forum Road Haulage of Round Timber Code of Practice (5th ed), there has been some uncertainty within the industry about which edition of the Code of Practice now applies re strapping. The current version is the 5th edition - see download below.

The Timber Transport Forum and FISA have produced stickers based on Pages 18 and 19 of the current 5th edition of the guidance (strapping of loaded timber wagons). There are three types of stickers, one for each different wagon configuration: Flatbeds, drag trailers and articulated trailers. It is hoped these can be placed on trucks/ cranes/trailers as appropriate. The download below shows the layouts.

Stickers have been posted out to hauliers who completed the recent TTF survey, but if you need more please contact technical@ukfisa.com to request stickers and these will be posted out to you asap & foc.

This 5th edition provides an overview of the technical and legal issues relating to road haulage.

It is aimed at those directly involved in the transport of timber by road and the management of timber haulage.

It covers stacking timber, the use of forest roads, loading logs, securing loads and unloading.

The Code of Practice together with updated Strapping Round Timber illustrations can be downloaded below from the Timber Transport Forum website. Printed copies will be available in due course.
