Port Plant and Equipment Injuries 2018-2020

As an increasing amount of timber is shipped in/out, and around UK waters the Port sector is an important part of the roundwood supply chain.  The Ports Skills and Safety association report that of 624 Injuries to People in UK ports in three years, more than 145 were linked with operating plant and equipment.  This is the third highest of all injury locations.  The attached flyer shows some of the types of injury reported, so that people using, managing and maintaining plant can share learning and work together to make ports safer.

Road Safety Strategy

The government has launched its first road safety strategy in more than a decade with the overarching aim of reducing deaths and serious injuries on Great Britain’s roads by 65% by 2035, using a 2022-2024 baseline.
