Forwarder Fire

Scottish Woodlands Toolbox Talk

A Gremo 950 Forwarder caught on fire. The operator escaped from the machine, retreated a safe distance, and called the fire brigade.

It is presumed that the initial cause of the fire was electrical.

The level of risk is clear – to life, to valuable machinery and equipment, fire spreading to the adjacent woodland or other areas or properties, the environmental impact or risk to the environment and any associated pollution, loss of production and employment.

Scottish Woodlands have reissued a reworked and expanded version of their Machine Fires - toolbox talk which addresses many of the issues relating to both the prevention and control of machine fires.
