w3w in an Emergency…..

  • Often, in a woodland/forest/mountain environment an Ambulance would be unable to access the worksite.
  • In this scenario, you should call 999, request POLICE and then explain the situation and inform them that you require MOUNTAIN RESCUE assistance.
  • At this point you should supply the GRID REFERENCE for your location.
    • Remember to do this prior to moving to an area where you can obtain a mobile phone signal!
  • By using numbers there is a reduced opportunity for mistakes to be made.
  • You can obtain your Grid reference by using OS Locate,  w3w and other apps.
  • Depending on your location, weather, cloud etc the actual location on your device may move….
