Wire-Watcher overhead powerline detection system field test

Forest Research, Technical Development Report, TDJR201 February 2019

Summary:

The Wire-Watcher high voltage overhead power transmission line detection system was field tested for warnings given on approach, as a potential additional safeguard against inadvertent collision with high voltage alternating current (AC) overhead cables. The system can be wired to be switched ‘on’ when entering a forest and disengaged when rejoining public roads. It can also be linked to amber beacon operation as a visual reminder, and may also be used as a safeguard for loaderposition and loader operation only.
