Safe Takedown of Hung-up Trees

Euroforest Safety Alert

Whenever undertaking motor-manual felling operations, the risk of trees not reaching the floor under gravity (getting hung-up) must be anticipated and planned for. Chainsaw operators, those who engage chainsaw operators and those who oversee chainsaw operations must ensure that any operators are appropriately trained, experienced, competent and equipped for all planned and foreseeable tasks.

It is critical that chainsaw operators have access to appropriate equipment to enable safe takedown whenever chainsaw felling is being undertaken. This is clearly crop / site dependent.
