Timber lorry slides off road close to overhead Transmission Line

Scottish Woodlands Health & Safety Toolbox Talk

The trailer section of a lorry and drag, partly slid off a forest road in icy conditions, close to an overhead transmission powerline.
The Transmission Network Operator was contacted and supplied an Engineer to supervise the unloading of the trailer section, close to the overhead power line, to reduce the vehicle weight.
No one was hurt and no damage was sustained to the timber lorry.
A prepared recovery plan and supporting arrangements, quickly put in place, can minimise machine and operator lost production time, minimise machine damage due to water ingress or oil or fuel spill, minimise physical recovery damage, and decrease the likelihood of diesel and hydraulic oil leaking and damaging the environment.
