FISA 2026
As FISA moves through what promises to be an exciting and impactful 2026, there is much to look forward to. Planned for 2026, the APF, the FISA Summit, a Young Professionals Day and Safety Awareness Days on Roadside Working all on the horizon. We very much hope members are able to join us at these events.
There is new and refreshed guidance heading to publication: new Roadside Working and Drone Guidance; continued work on new 809 Managing Public Safety; refreshed FISA 604 Chipper, 703 Debogging, 803 Wildfires and the core GMHSF. In addition, there will also be new Technical Notes for CDM and Safety Risk Zones — all reflecting FISA's ongoing commitment to raising safety standards across the industry. 2026 will also see a film series helping the public keep out of forestry risk zones and topics for the FWM. FISA’s Risk Zone Campaign continues through 2026 along with review of Chainsaw Advanced Skills, adding focus on site safety.
We are entering a new leadership chapter. Andy Bucklebury joins as Accord Manager at the end of April 2026, bringing a new perspective to the role. We warmly welcome Andy and look forward to what this next phase holds for FISA and its members.
At the same time, we mark the end of Gillian Clark's tenure, after 13 years at the helm of FISA. Gillian has played a significant role in shaping the organisation, building on the foundations established by Steve Lavery and helping to grow FISA's reach and influence across the forestry sector. She leaves with our sincere thanks for her dedication and for the many relationships she has built along the way.
FISA's work would not be possible without the industry volunteers who generously give their time to support our Working Groups, Steering Group, and Board. Their expertise and commitment remain the backbone of everything we do — and that needs to continue under our new leadership.
