ATV Rollover

MAG Safety Alert

Recently released via BC Forest Safe.

ATV was travelling slowly on the road which was overgrown in spots with brush and vegetation resulting in poor visibility. The ATV's front right tire fell into a slump in the road causing the quad to roll onto its side. The employee's leg became pinned between the ATV and a stump.
They initiated the SOS button on their In-Reach device alerting the main office, RCMP and Search & Rescue. The emergency procedure was immediately put into action and the employee was airlifted via helicopter. The Rollover Protection System (ROPS) prevented the machine from a completely rolling over.

Most important takeaway: Develop access assessment plans to manage the risk and how to approach the task and worksite.
