National restrictions announced for England

On Saturday 31 October the Prime Minister announced national restrictions coming into force on Thursday 5 November at 00:01 for England.

  • Further guidance on the restrictions is available on GOV.UK.
  • You can read the Prime Minister’s full statement here.
  • Information is available on current restrictions in Scotland and Wales.

Going to work

To help contain the virus, the government guidelines mean everyone who can work effectively from home must do so during this time of greater restrictions.

Where people cannot do so (for instance people who work in critical national infrastructure, construction or manufacturing) they should continue to travel to work/attend their workplace.

This is essential to keeping the country operating and supporting vital sectors and employers
