FISA 501

Tractor units in tree work

July 2025 - update to Item 19 of FISA 501

Current wording - 19. Suitable fire extinguisher(s) which are firmly fixed, regularly serviced and readily accessible.

Revised wording - 19. Where fitted or required, suitable fire extinguisher(s) should be firmly fixed, regularly serviced and readily accessible.

This change gives a clarification during the interim whilst the FISA Plant & Equipment Working Group review the fire extinguisher clause in the FISA Safety Guide.

Where extinguishers are supplied as standard, they must be properly maintained and operators trained in their use. The safest course of action is to move away from a fire situation as quickly as possible and call the fire and rescue service.

This leaflet covers driving tractor base units in forestry operations and other tree work and highlights the machine features and operating requirements.
