FISA Summit 2025: Key Highlights

The FISA Summit 2025 was voted to become an annual event after successfully bringing together 90+ forest professionals in Penrith on 17th September. Our grateful thanks to everyone who attended the event, enjoyed the networking and participated in the active Q & A session.

Thanks also go to our Working Groups who diligently tackle a wide range of safety topics during the course of a year. Working Group members are volunteers with busy day jobs and FISA is most grateful to you all for your support and outputs.

Risk Zone Campaign Launch

The Summit saw the launch of FISA's year-long Risk Zone campaign targeting public and operative encroachment into active work areas. The campaign will address risk zones in relation to tree felling, machinery, haulage and chainshot hazards through industry calls, monthly guidance, training integration and manufacturer collaboration.

Working Group Updates

FISA's working groups showcased significant progress across multiple fronts. Key developments include roadside working guidance, refreshed chainsaw documents, evening meetings to encourage contractor meeting attendance, and the development of educational films. Details were also announced about a new dedicated Roadside Working Task & Finish Group established to address safety concerns near public highways.

FISA Safety Award

The busy Summit launched the FISA Safety Award with nominations open until December 2025. Looking to 2026, priorities include refreshing health and safety guidance, behavioural safety workshops, and new or refreshed guidance on public safety management and wildfires to name but a few.

Looking Forward

The Summit can ‘safely’ be hailed a great success, further fuelling our aim and desire to keep everyone in our industry safe. In order to succeed, we continue to seek volunteers to join our working groups and welcome volunteers across all disciplines. We would love to hear from you.

In the meantime, the Working Groups will continue to deliver and we look forward to the FISA Summit 2026.

THINK SAFE, STAY SAFE.
