FISA and Lantra joint statement

Following the joint statement issued in June 2015, FISA and Lantra are now in a position to agree on acceptance of Lantra chainsaw refreshers delivered by +F trainers. Lantra have undertaken the process of evaluating trainers to assure that they can demonstrate sound knowledge and experience of commercial forestry.

Certificates will show that modules that have been refreshed will be listed as +F. Only Lantra trainers assessed to +F status will be allowed to deliver the refresher.  These certificates will be issued with a 5-year expiry date for successful contractors.

FISA refreshers will adopt this same expiry period for any future courses, with an additional note stating that HSE and FISA strongly recommend that occasional users of a chainsaw should consider taking a refresher course more frequently, for example every 3 years.

Any Lantra +F refresher certificates issued since the 1st May 2016 will be FISA recognised.
