Bridge Decking Failure

Scottish Woodlands Health & Safety Bulletin

The timber deck on a forest bridge failed while in use. No one was hurt.

At the Forest Engineering Group Symposium, September this year, it was highlighted to the forest industry as a whole, that timber decking on forest bridges, in many locations, was lasting as little as 10 years. The decking on this bridge was 9 years old.
